What is Cadlag Function?

A cadlag function is a function defined on real numbers or subset of real numbers that is everywhere right-continuous and have left limits everywhere. The Cadlag function is important in the study of Stochastic processes that admits jumps. The collection of Cadlag functions on a given domain is known as Skorokhod space. A cadlag function when defined on a compact space interval is bounded. Also, a uniform limit of a sequence of cadlag function is again cadlag.

Some Examples Of Cadlag Functions Are:

  • All continuous functions are perfect examples of cadlag functions.
  • Cumulative distribution function (CDF) are also cadlag functions where they have a limit at the left side and it is right continuous.
